Botswana, Namibia & South Africa!
On this exclusive photo tour you will stay on the Chobe and Zambezi rivers on a luxurious houseboat and go to the best wildlife-themed boats, built specially for the photographer on the hunt. The Chobe is a paradise for birders but also know for its huge herds of elephants. The elephants come down to the river every day and chances of photographing these majestic animals crossing the river are very high. The photographic safari is again led by SIGMA reference photographer Andreas Knausenberger.
The second part of the photo journey takes you into a five star lodge in the Madigwe game reserve which we have booked for the entire period in Madikwe exclusively for you. Here you will photograph on the free game drives in the reserve, as well as from the lodge-owned photo hideaway in the midst of a water hole. In the park there are the Big Five and also African wild dogs. This photo tour at the highest level has a limited number of participants from eight photographers. Therefore we recommend an early booking!
An exemplary itinerary:
Your journey begins in Frankfurt. From there, it's via Johannesburg to Livingstone in Zambia. Your flight will be a night flight and you’ll reach Livingstone at noon. From there, you’ll have a private transfer to Kasane in Botswana, where you check in directly on the boat. In the evening you’ll go on our boats, built specially for photographers, on your first Safari on the Chobe River.
The next three days you are photographing the hundreds of elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, and birds on the Zambezi and Chobe. Four photographers and a workshop leader share one of the two boats. All boats are equipped with GimPro camera mounts and feature a 360° rotating seat. This allows you to take perfect photos.
On September 4th we’ll proceed directly from our house boat to the airport at Kasane. Here your domestic flight to Gaberone is waiting for you. You reach the Botswanian capital in the late afternoon and you will travel from there on a short transfer to South Africa. From the border you’ll travel to the luxury lodge in the Madikwe game reserve. Because we place highest value on privacy, we exclusively rented the entire lodge just for this photo trip. This means that there will be no other guests at the lodge. You’ll enjoy the evening at a lavish dinner.

For the next two full days you're going on Safari with the open Landcruisers. We can also look offroad for animals in the wildlife reserve. This allows us a very high chance to view lions, leopards, rhinos and wild dogs. Usually you go on game drives in the morning and afternoon. Here, four participants share the back area of the Landcruiser. The workshop leader will sit on the Guide seat next to the driver. The vehicles are all open and are also equipped with GimPro camera mounts. In Madigwe, there are strict rules regarding the number of vehicles that are permitted. The fact that we have rented the whole lodge for you, we have also the two Landcruisers exclusively available for our game drives. At noon our guests can relax at the lodge or use the lodge-owned photo hideaway in the midst of a water hole for photo shootings. Here, elephants, rhinos, lions and other wild animals come to drink regularly.
Unfortunately, your photo tour is coming to an end. After a last game drive in the morning you will go to Johannesburg. You’ll reach Johannesburg after a four hours ride. You check in at the airport and then fly by night flight directly from Johannesburg back to Frankfurt. Your journey ends at Frankfurt International Airport!
